EMI

Explore Ministry Internship (EMI)

At Real Hope, we take seriously our biblical mandate to develop leaders. To that end, we have created a paid internship that is designed to prepare and deploy the next generation of men and women who will lead the Church.

Who is the EMI for?

  • Anyone can apply for the internship, but it is especially suited to college students or recent graduates who are thinking about a career in ministry.
  • If you already know you want to go into full-time ministry, this internship is a way to gain some insight and experience before making weighty decisions like applying to seminary or moving a long distance for a job.
  • If you’re not sure whether a career in ministry is God’s path for you, this internship will help you explore that. You will have exposure to many angles of ministry leadership that will serve you well as a future church staff member or key volunteer.

How does the EMI Work?

  • The EMI is a fund-raised position (i.e. the intern raises funds which are given as tax-deductible gifts to Real Hope). We will teach you how to do this.
  • The intern can raise funds for a 6-month internship ($7,500), or a 1-year internship ($15,000).
  • The EMI is a 20-hour a week position, not including Sunday responsibilities.
  • During the EMI, the intern will be involved in an array of ministry experiences, including:
    • Staff meetings
    • Strategic planning
    • Message writing and evaluation
    • Event planning
    • Volunteer coordination
    • Media/promotion
    • Discipleship
    • Next Gen Ministry
    • Community engagement
  • After the EMI ends, we will help our interns in whatever ways we can in their next steps (finding a job, applying to seminary, planting a church etc.)

How do I apply and start an EMI?

There are a few steps to begin an EMI with Real Hope:

  • Email our Executive Pastor Jenny Jones and tell us you’re interested.
  • We will set up an interview.
  • If we accept you as an intern after the interview, we will help you raise funds for your internship. ($7,500 for 6 months or $15,000 for a year – you can choose the duration).

After your funds are raised, your internship begins!
