The Next Gen ministry at Real Hope exists to partner with parents in the spiritual formation of every child from newborn to high school.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made changes to how we minister to our kids and students in order to continue meaningfully investing in their lives during this time of disruption. We will provide some basic information here, but please don't hesitate to reach out to us if you have questions or need support.

SUNDAY SERVICES

In light of the safety guidelines provided by local health officials and LCISD, we will not be offering separate kids and student ministries on Sundays. We will instead worship together in one service as a single multigenerational church family.  While this is a different format than our typical Sunday services, we believe there are valuable opportunities in front of us for equipping families to grow together.

Each Sunday, we will provide activity sheets that are geared toward engaging kids and students with the message. This will enable you as families to dialogue about what God is teaching you through the messages each week. For anyone joining us remotely via the live stream, we will send out the activity sheets via email.

AT-HOME VIDEO RESOURCES

In addition to our Sunday services, we also have weekly video-led lessons for all age groups (pre-school, elementary, and JH/HS students) that you can utilize during the week.

STAYING IN TOUCH

  • Students, we invite you to stay connected with us via Instagram

PARENT RESOURCES

We desire to be a church that not only teaches the gospel to our kids and students, but also equips parents to do the same at home. We recommend the books below as resources that will help you shape your child's understanding of God and proactively address the tough questions about faith that will inevitably come.

Parenting Beyond Your Capacity

In Parenting Beyond Your Capacity, Reggie Joiner and Carey Nieuwhof help parents discover a bigger story in which to involve their family, one in which multiple influential voices combine in order to tell kids the same thing: that a relationship with God really matters. Parenting Beyond Your Capacity can help parents establish a lifestyle in which they:

  • Invite others to invest in their children to help shape and determine the direction of their lives.
  • Create a culture of unconditional love to fuel the emotional and moral health of their children.
  • Tap into the power of quality moments together, building a sense of purpose through everyday experiences.

The Beginner's Gospel Story Bible

How do you explain the gospel to toddlers and preschoolers? In The Beginner’s Gospel Story Bible, author Jared Kennedy traces God’s perfect promises through fifty-two Old and New Testament stories, retold in simple and compelling ways with toddlers and preschoolers in mind. Each gospel-centered story highlights God’s tale of redemption through Jesus and the unexpected and surprising ways that God’s grace and mercy are revealed throughout the Bible.

Children will hear the good news of God’s love for them clearly expressed in ways that will speak to their young hearts. Brightly colored illustrations highlight the stories and add fun teaching elements of counting, opposites, patterns, and object recognition to keep even the youngest child’s attention. Every story also ends with a question that parents and caregivers can use to further reinforce the message.

Show Them Jesus

Millions of church kids are growing up and deciding to leave the church. They listened attentively in church, made friends, and seemed committed. But one day, they quit. What happened? The Bible says we love God because he first loved us. So if we are not primarily teaching our kids about God's love for us in Christ, we may miss our opportunity to capture their hearts. But what does it look like to teach our kids the gospel? With a simple framework and lots of real-life examples, Show Them Jesus helps parents and sunday school teachers to identify and communicate the heart of the gospel to children in ways they will understand and remember.

Can I Ask That?: 8 Hard Questions about God and Faith

Teenagers are tired of vague, superficial, or nonexistent answers to their tough questions about God, the Bible, and Christianity. Just when they’re capable of diving into the deep end of their faith, all too often the church keeps them splashing around in shallow waters. As eight years of Sticky Faith research has shown, it’s not doubt or hard questions that are toxic to faith. It’s silence.

Designed for use alongside the Can I Ask That Leader Guide, these eight sessions tackle the following tough questions: What is the Bible, anyway? Why does the Bible contradict itself? Can I be a Christian and believe in evolution? Does God discriminate against women? Is Jesus really the only way to God? What does the Bible say about being gay? Does God endorse violence? And, How can I follow a God who would let Christians do such bad things?

Whether you've never asked these questions before or you've been aching for the chance, this guide is meant to be a starting point for each conversation. Go ahead. You can ask that.

Can I Ask That? (Volume 2): More Hard Questions About God & Faith

Designed for use alongside the Can I Ask That Volume 2 Leader Guide, these six sessions tackle the following tough questions: Is it wrong to doubt God? Is hell real? How could God send someone there? Can I do something so bad God won't forgive me? Why do bad things happen to good people? Is sex outside marriage wrong? Why is it so awkward to talk about Jesus with my friends?
